RAPX gets 40 years

I want to share that, lately in April, I was investigating and collaborating with RAPX founder Martin Magielka.

I want to share a bit of my process here...

I met Martin a long time ago, but after our initial meeting, it didn't lead directly into a joint journey, as I didnt know him well enough, and the situation was very complicated and short. But the universe guided us back together, now I took my time; we talked a lot, and he took me on a journey into his world, past, and backstory, which then led to several Gaussian Splat 3DGS experiments, which I then used as a base to create nonverbal storytelling clips about him and his community ... for the 40th anniversary of his Street fashion Brand "RAPX" !

I got involved by chance, and it led to an interesting journey. In the end, I created several visual clips and portraits about Martin's life and journey with RAPX and his actual crew of the ZWANZIK Store Bochum.

I learned about Martin's BMX past and what was, in a way, the Bochum City Spot of his young days ...

I learned that he has been traveling as a competing BMX rider these days, with sponsors and all of it ... and how he somehow brought the NEW York City Wipe to Bochum City through an early understanding of graffiti street art ... and the necessary fast needed legs of this knowledge back in 1986

I learned about the terrible motorcycle accident that somehow became a turning and starting point of his entire later life ...

I got to know the actual crew of the Zwanzik Store Bochum and the different creatives who are also residents in the store.

All my processes resulted in several videos which are to be seen through Martin's anniversary exhibition and several future events ... so much I want to say ... the roughness and the pure attitude of the street community resulted in several processes and tool decisions which all then led into the composition of several splats that melt into each other and composed by a loop type of camera flight through my visual expression.

I didnt aim to create the cleanest, super perfect splat; I aimed for a rough street-style memory and decided to only use a consumer mobile phone app for the scans and then work with the results in Supersplat Editor to achieve a dreamy, nonverbal camera fly-through his story ...

Thanks Martin Magilka it was a pleasure ... and to many more future encounter together ...
